As a growing figure and role model to millions of women, three key pain points existed that Tobi Pearce and Kayla Itsines needed to solve. The Bikini Body Guide (BBG) ebook phenomenon that delivered Kayla Itsines workouts was not a very interactive platform. Having a way to control the user experience, including being able to gather user data to improve the product, was core.
Second, they wanted to meet the needs of millennials. Most of Sweat’s customers are in that age group, so Tobi Pearce and Kayla Itsines knew that meant the content needed to be mobile-friendly. Having a super elegant SWEAT app and SWEAT website would elevate their brand to a global stage.
To be able to make a real impact on the health and fitness industry, scalability became business-critical. Tobi Pearce knew their flagship product needed a profound, innovative and game-changing business model.
Kayla Itsines came to us with a vision to connect more closely with her followers. Sensing an eventual shift away from the traditional eBooks formula, we all agreed moving to a mobile app space would effectively highlight values of community and empowerment.
These values were best represented as the original Sweat with Kayla app - a natural progression of the fitness industry.
Like most other digital visual content, eBooks are susceptible to piracy and inconsistencies with design layouts across devices. When transferred from desktops to mobile, unless the eBook has been specifically created with mobile in mind, it scales poorly.
Our solution of a dynamic mobile app provides interactivity simply not achievable with eBooks. With a plan moving forward, Sweat with Kayla was built from the ground up with core values of community, empowerment, and interactivity in mind.
With special considerations of the mobile phone interface, we enabled quick 28 minute workout sessions and integrated Kayla’s famous BBG guide right into the app.
Bringing multiple trainers under a unified SWEAT website
In late 2016, PixelForce built a completely custom-designed website for the SWEAT community. As a leader in health and fitness, SWEAT needed to blend sales-optimised functionality into its community-focused site. It was clear Shopify was to remain as the underlying platform of choice. In response, we custom built all functionality on top of Shopify to truly enable a platform for a worldwide audience.

We setup and customised the look and feel SWEAT's eCommerce website, ensuring the default design scheme matches with SWEAT's vibrant colour profile.

Our forum software of choice comes with extensive and well-documented APIs, which lets us quickly and easily develop new functionality. It looks and feels great right out of the box. The user interface is streamlined so users spend less time clicking and more time talking.
